RJ Murphy Return to Flight Scholarship Fund
Sept. 17, 2005 – April 28, 2026
RJ Murphy was an Alaskan pilot from Aniak and Chuathbaluk. He earned his Private Pilot Certificate at the age of 17 and his Instrument Rating shortly after graduating from high school, showing an early dedication to aviation and continued growth as a pilot.
RJ was a natural aviator and a skilled stick with an instinctive feel for flying. Aviation brought him some of the greatest joy and proudest accomplishments of his life, representing freedom, confidence, purpose, and possibility.
The RJ Murphy Return to Flight Scholarship was established in his memory to help Alaskan pilots overcome the financial barriers of regaining an FAA medical certificate after losing it.
We know RJ would want others to keep going and continue pursuing the freedom and purpose that flying meant to him.
