The Paneok Project was created to honor the legacy of Ellen Paneok, a pioneer. The first Alaska Native female pilot.

Ellen began flying at age 16. She built a remarkable career as a bush pilot, commercial pilot, flight instructor and FAA aviation safety inspector.

Known for her skill, independence, and commitment to others, Ellen became a powerful example of what rural Alaskan youth can achieve when given opportunity, encouragement and a path forward.

Our mission is to connect rural Alaskan youth with aviation training, mentorship and career opportunities that may otherwise feel out of reach. Through scholarships, program support and guidance, we help students take their first steps toward becoming pilots, mechanics, dispatchers, aviation professionals and leaders in their communities.

Aviation is more than a career in Alaska — it is connection, access, service and survival. Paneok educational non profit exists to carry that spirit forward, one student at a time.
